The ABC gospel

The core gospel (ABC'S).

(Sin)- For all have sinned and come short of the glory (or perfection) of God. As it is written: there is none righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:23, 10). This means that every person has sinned, and there’s a consequence for our sins – ‘’For the wages of sin is death’’ (Romans 6:23). This is not only a physical death, but also a second death in hell – ‘’And all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death’’ (Revelation 21:8). (Jesus)- But the good news is that Christ died for our sins, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day in order to pay for all of our sins and to save us from hell (He is the propitiation (or the payment) for our sins). ‘’But God commendeth (proves) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree’’. Romans 5:8, 1Peter 2:24. (Salvation)- The one thing the Bible says we must do to be saved is: ‘’Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved’’ (Acts 16:31). Believing on Jesus means that we receive His death, His burial and His resurrection as the complete payment for our sins, which guarantees us eternal life. Salvation is a free gift - we cannot earn it by our own works or efforts, such as: by turning away from our sins, or by keeping the commandments, or by being baptized, or by being a good person, etc. It’s a 100% by faith (by believing or trusting) in Jesus and in His finished work alone. ‘’That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (if you ask Him to save you), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’’. Romans 10:9, 13 - A sample prayer to receive Christ as Savior: ‘’Dear Jesus, I know I’m a sinner, and I deserve hell. But I believe that you died and rose again to pay for all of my sins. Please save me right now and give me eternal life. I’m trusting in you alone as my Savior – and not in my own works. Thanks for saving me, in Jesus’ name, Amen! ’’He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life’’ (John 3:36). Thepreaching.com
