The romans road - 5 steps to salvation
The romans road - 5 steps to salvation
How to preach the gospel (the free gift of eternal life) - 1. All have sinned - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God - this means we're all sinners. So we've all lied, stolen or coveted something... 2. The punishment for sin - And the Bible says there's a consequence (or punishment) for our sins. For the wages of sin is death ... This is not just a physical death but also a second death in hell. And all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. And we know that we've all lied before, and we've all done worse things than lying. Therefore we all deserve hell as a punishment for our sins. 3. The gospel (or good news) - But there's good news - the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus Christ is the Son of God (God manifest in the flesh). The Bible says that Christ died for our sins, and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day in order to pay for all of our sins and to save us from hell. This means He bore our punishment and paid our penalty in full (He suffered the death we all deserved because of our sins). So all of the sins we've ever committed were laid on Jesus and it's just as if He had done them Himself. He is the propitiation (or payment) for our sins. For the wages (or penalty) of sin is death. 4. The gift - Moreover the Bible says that salvation is a gift - For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast. So because salvation is a gift, and gifts are always free, we don't have to give anything in return (it's not of works, not of ourselves). We're not saved because we've turned from all of our sins, or because we've joined a church, or because we've been baptized, or because we keep the commandments and do good things, but simply because we've believed (or put our faith and trust) in Jesus alone and in His finished work on the cross (His death, burial and resurrection as the complete payment for our sins). 5. Once saved, always saved (chastisements and rewards) - The only thing the Bible says we must do to be saved is : That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (if you ask Him to save you), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Once we believe (or trust) in Christ alone as Savior, we are saved forever and we become a child of God. Now if we do good things after we're saved, God will bless us, and if we commit sins, God will discipline (or correct) us on this earth, but there's nothing we can do to go to hell because we're saved (all of our sins are paid for and covered by the blood of Jesus - we are forgiven- because He died for all of our sins- past, present and future). This is called the eternal security of the believer. If you believe what I've shown you so far, you can pray to receive Christ as Savior (prayer alone doesn't save you, you must also believe this in your heart). Simply say - "Lord Jesus, | know I'm a sinner, and | deserve to go to hell. But | believe that you died on the cross and rose again to pay for all of my sins. Save me right now and give me eternal life. I'm trusting in you alone as my Savior - and not in my own works. Thanks for saving me, Amen!".
